MyFM 101.3 is committed, this year more than ever, to continue collecting toys for local children in need through the amazing efforts of the Toys for Kids and Teens organization. About a month ago their storage facility in Uxbridge was vandalized and they experienced a great loss of toys and operational collateral. On top of that, we lost our collection site which, obviously, threatened our successful collection process.
In past years, as you already may know, MyFM spends a weekend outside of Walmart (Target before that) collecting toys for TFKAT. We would also collect cash from Shopping Spree Sponsors. These sponsors donate a predetermined amount of money ($250 last year) that the MyFM team would then use to purchase toys over the course of the weekend while thanking each sponsor with a social media video summary of their spree. Last year we raised $17,000 from this effort! That, on top of the toy donations we collected on site, helped fill a school bus full of $25,000 worth of toys! Our biggest and most successful collection to date.
Given the unfortunate situation with our TFKAT friends, there was no question that the show must go on! So, after some careful planning and pivoting, we landed on this plan…
MyFM is accepting “donation commitments” from Shopping Spree Sponsors. This year, sponsors will commit to purchasing at least $200 worth of toys and then deliver them to our new collection site on Sunday December 3rd at the MyFM Studios parking lot at 258 Main Street in Milford between 10am and 3pm. After we fill the bus we will celebrate by rolling through the Milford Santa Parade scheduled for 4pm, then drive straight to the TFKAT collection facility in Uxbridge to unload. We are also inviting everyone down to donate whatever they can. One toy or gift card goes a long way in bringing happiness to a child or teen this holiday season.
The big question is “What should I buy?”
Any toy for any age group is appreciated. It’s the teens that get tricky. In the past we have spent shopping spree sponsorship money on small TVs, video games, electronics, beauty products, hair care products, hobby supplies, sporting good items, etc. Gift cards are also a great item to donate. Let the teens shop for themselves!
Please reach out to Ray at [email protected] with any questions or if you would like to commit to a shopping spree this year. It takes a community to make a difference… let’s, once again, make a difference together!
MFM STUFF-A-BUS COMMITMENT TO CARE AGREEMENT
By signing this agreement, you are committing to continue to be awesome, to continue to care for our community and our children and teens in need. You are committing to donate, at least, $200 worth of toys and deliver them to the MyFM 2023 Stuff-a-Bus collection site. LOCATION: 258 MAIN STREET PARKING LOT DATE: SUNDAY DECEMBER 3RD TIME: 10AM TO 3PM You are also committing to be a megaphone for the efforts of the 2023 MyFM Stuff-a-Bus. To tell friends… to ask others to match your donation… to share MyFM’s efforts through social media and social interactions… to be an Ambassador of Awesome. As a Shopping Spree Sponsor, you’ll become a silent hero to a faceless child or teen, right here in the MyFM listening area, who, otherwise, would not get the opportunity to enjoy the tradition of gift-receiving that their peers experience and every child and teen deserves. You’ll help a parent, who you’ll never meet, be a hero to their child as they struggle through whatever situation they are working through and give them a moment of joyful holiday happiness with their family… YOU WILL BE AWESOME! We thank and appreciate you!
