Nipmuc’s boys basketball team slipped for the third straight game, dropping a 65-41 decision to Worcester Tech in a matchup that started competitively but tilted decisively after intermission. The Eagles led 31-21 at halftime and kept their foot on the gas in the second half, steadily widening the margin and denying the Warriors any realistic chance of a comeback.

Worcester Tech was paced by Rico Sims Pizarro, who finished with 17 points and consistently found space in Nipmuc’s defense. For the Warriors, Grady O’Neil was electric from distance, finishing with 22 points and draining six three-pointers, a performance that stood out despite the loss. Nipmuc’s supporting pieces will need to provide more help; coaches will be looking for Scott Froberg and Eben Consigli to provide complementary scoring and stabilize the rotation.

The loss leaves Nipmuc at 5-4 on the season and facing a stiff test tonight at 6:30 p.m. against a David Prouty squad that is 6-1. That Panthers matchup looms large. Prouty is coming off a loss to Uxbridge but remains among the region’s most consistent teams. Nipmuc will need O’Neil to replicate his shooting night and will require more offensive balance to snap the three-game skid.
