Whitinsville-Christian Softball Searching for Consistency

After an 0-4 start, the Whitinsville-Christian softball team is showing signs of improvement, having split their last four games and begun to find offensive momentum. In their opening stretch, the Crusaders struggled mightily, scoring only four runs while giving up 74 across four lopsided losses to Douglas, Hopedale, Sutton, and Nipmuc. The concern wasn’t just the tough opponents—it was the lack of production. But lately, the offense has come alive, with the Crusaders scoring double-digit runs in three of their last four, including a 17-run explosion in a recent win. Despite a 15-2 loss to a very strong Hopedale team last week, Whitinsville-Christian has shown flashes of the team they’re hoping to become. They were originally set to face Sutton again yesterday in a rematch that was postponed, a missed chance to gauge their progress. Instead, they’ll host Douglas today, a team they’ve already faced once, in what could be a momentum-building game. Douglas enters at 7-5, a solid opponent, but a winnable matchup if the Crusaders can stay aggressive at the plate. This stretch of the season will be critical, and a strong showing today could set the tone for a much-needed second-half surge.
