The Nipmuc boys’ volleyball team shook off their lone setback of the season to deliver another commanding performance Tuesday night, disposing of the Norton Lancers in straight sets, 3–0. Earlier in the year, the Warriors pushed the Marlborough Panthers to a decisive fifth set in a hard-fought 3–2 loss, but since then, Nipmuc has found its rhythm, rolling past Leominster and Bellingham by identical 3–0 scores before this latest triumph. Against Norton, a squad that had won five of its previous six matches and entered off a 3–0 victory over Westwood, the Warriors maintained their intensity from the first serve. Nipmuc’s serving pressure consistently disrupted the Lancers’ offense, while quick transitions allowed the Warriors to capitalize on every opportunity at the net. Strong blocking at the net and crisp floor defense kept Norton off balance, leading to quick set victories and minimal extended rallies. With the win, Nipmuc improved to 12–1 and sits firmly among the state’s volleyball elite. Next up for the Warriors is a heavyweight showdown against the South High Colonels, who carry a 9–2 record and rank 14th in D2. Nipmuc, ranked 10th in D1, will welcome the Colonels in what promises to be a playoff-like atmosphere. This early-season test will gauge the Warriors’ championship aspirations and provide valuable experience against a top-tier opponent.
