Warriors Softball Stages Thrilling Comeback Over AMSA

The Nipmuc Warriors softball team delivered a classic comeback Wednesday, storming back from a 7–2 deficit to defeat AMSA 8–7 in extra innings. The Eagles built a commanding lead by capitalizing on early defensive miscues and pounding the ball into the gaps. However, Nipmuc’s defense tightened in the fourth and fifth innings, turning sharp grounders into routine outs and limiting AMSA’s dangerous hitters. In the sixth inning, the Warriors seized control. Back-to-back two-run doubles by Bridget Klupa and Allie Burdzel erased the five-run deficit, fueled by disciplined plate approaches and heads-up baserunning that forced fielders into hurried throws. The bench erupted as Nipmuc knotted the score at 7–7. Neither team scored in the seventh, but in the bottom of the eighth, the Warriors’ persistence paid off. Due to an error and heads-up baserunning, Madison Molle sprinted home with the walk-off run, capping a dramatic turnaround. Now 16–2 and seeded sixth in the Division 3 bracket, Nipmuc enters the postseason as a bona fide contender. With veteran leadership, clutch hitting, and a bullpen that has shown resilience, the Warriors look poised to carry this momentum deep into tournament play.
