The Nipmuc Warriors closed their season with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Tewksbury in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs. Entering as the No. 38 seed against the No. 27 Redmen (10-12), the Warriors embraced their underdog role and battled through every inning. Tewksbury struck first, plating two runs in the opening frame. Nipmuc responded in the second when Johnny Desmond delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit in half. An insurance run in the fourth inning proved decisive, however, as the Warriors’ bats were held in check the rest of the way. Nipmuc managed just four hits on the day, but their pitching trio of Dylan Muccini, Cole McGovern, and Joshua Giancola combined to limit Tewksbury to three runs, keeping the game within reach until the final out. Though the postseason run was brief, the Warriors’ seniors can take pride in a season defined by resilience and competitive spirit. This group laid a foundation for future teams, showing that Nipmuc baseball will battle until the very last pitch.
