Uxbridge Softball Rolls to Fourth Straight Win

The Uxbridge girls’ softball team continued its outstanding season, improving to 9-2 overall after dismantling Auburn 9-1 last night. The Spartans’ offense exploded early and often, but the true star once again was ace pitcher Erin O’Day. O’Day was untouchable, racking up 17 strikeouts without allowing a hit or a walk. The only run Auburn managed was unearned, showcasing just how dominant O’Day was throughout the contest. Performances like this have become standard for the Uxbridge standout, as she fanned 16 in her previous game against Hopedale and 11 the game before that. She also had a 20-strikeout performance against Doherty Memorial earlier this month. Not only is O’Day a force in the circle, but she’s a nightmare at the plate as well, carrying a scorching .636 batting average with 5 home runs on the season. Thanks largely to her, the Spartans are off to a 10-0 start and show no signs of slowing down.
