Uxbridge softball concluded a dominant regular season Monday with a 19-1 record, defeating Blackstone Valley to close things out. The Spartans enter the Division 4 playoffs as one of the top-ranked teams in the state and a legitimate championship contender. Their lone loss came in extra innings against Tantasqua, a 1-0 setback in a game that could’ve gone either way. Otherwise, Uxbridge rolled through its schedule, showing off elite pitching, power hitting, and strong team defense. Senior ace Erin O’Day led the charge, batting .615 with six home runs while also setting a school record with 20 strikeouts in a single game. She has been untouchable on the mound, posting dominant numbers from start to finish. The lineup has been deep and dangerous all year. Lola Grube hit .542 with eight home runs, and Bailey Dzivasen added a .486 average, scoring 43 runs and collecting 34 hits. With a balanced attack and a veteran roster, Uxbridge will be a team no one wants to face. The Spartans have their sights set on a long playoff run, and possibly a state title.
