The Uxbridge Spartans softball team saw their season come to a close in the Division 4 state semifinals, falling 4-0 to a strong Tyngsborough team at Worcester State University. The Tigers, the No. 6 seed, came off a tight 3-2 win over AMSA and rode that momentum behind a brilliant outing from pitcher Kiley Hogan. Hogan dominated Uxbridge’s potent lineup, holding the Spartans to just three hits while racking up key outs. Tyngsborough plated two runs in the second inning and tacked on two more in the seventh, with Adrianna Arsenault and Hailey McMahon supplying the offense. Uxbridge ace Erin O’Day battled hard, striking out 15, but nine walks proved costly. Katherine Pratt led Uxbridge at the plate with two hits, trying to will her team to the final. Despite the loss, the Spartans had a tremendous season, advancing to the final four and finishing among the best in the state. The outgoing seniors leave behind a legacy of excellence, while the underclassmen will look to build on this run. This year’s squad showed resilience and talent, setting a new standard for Uxbridge softball.
