The Uxbridge Spartans continued their strong playoff run with a 4-2 win over Pittsfield, setting up a quarterfinal showdown with the winner of Wahconah and Abington. The Spartans entered the game as the No. 2 seed in Division 4 and lived up to expectations, fending off a scrappy Pittsfield squad. Despite unforced errors that allowed the Generals to keep it close, Uxbridge’s star players once again led the way. Erin O’Day delivered another elite two-way performance, pitching seven innings with 11 strikeouts and just two hits allowed while adding a home run and a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Lola Grube launched another homer of her own, collecting two RBIs, and Bailey Dzivasen added a double. The Spartans improved on what’s already been an outstanding season, with their only loss coming to undefeated Division 3 powerhouse Tantasqua. Now firmly entrenched among the top teams in the state, Uxbridge looks poised to continue its deep postseason run. With their sights set on the Final Four, the Spartans are preparing for their biggest test yet as they await their home-field showdown with Abington tomorrow night at 6:30 PM.
