The Uxbridge Spartans faced off against a stellar Hopedale Blue Raiders squad in a field hockey contest between two of the region’s very best. This was the Spartans’ last regular-season game of the year, and they entered the contest 17-0 with a remarkable 26-game winning streak without ties. Hopedale arrived with six straight wins and a 12-4 record, but even the region’s best have been no match for Uxbridge this season.
The girls jumped all over Hopedale, ending the contest with an impressive 5-1 victory. Amelia Blood netted two goals while Aubrey Bouchard, Mia Ouellette, and Kendall Gilmore all added a goal apiece. Lexi Carroll scored the lone goal of the night for Hopedale, but it wasn’t enough to slow Uxbridge’s dominant personnel.
The Spartans finished the regular season undefeated and will carry home-field advantage through the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the D3 tournament. They are aiming for a championship to cap their inaugural D3 campaign, a fifth straight title that would follow their four-peat at the D4 level.
Uxbridge is far from satisfied despite the perfect record; the Spartans will look to make a statement in their first playoff game and continue the run that has defined their program for years.
