The Uxbridge Spartans baseball team’s season ended in a heartbreaker, falling to top‑seeded Pittsfield 5-4 on a walk‑off home run by Jack Reed in the Division 4 quarterfinals. The Spartans, the No. 9 seed, battled the Generals to a draw through five innings. Willem Haker and Zack Veneziano delivered RBI hits to stake Uxbridge to a 3-1 lead in the fifth. Pittsfield responded in the sixth when Morrie Fried connected for a solo homer to make it 3-2. Then, after intentionally walking Fried in the seventh, Uxbridge watched Reed drill a two-run shot to end the season. Despite the loss, the Spartans earned plenty of accolades. Senior Charlie Criscola was named an SWCL First Team All-Star and will play at Northeastern next year. Fellow senior Talen Rosborough also earned First Team honors behind the plate and at bat. Juniors Willem Haker (two-way star) and Liam Kaferlein (centerfield anchor) made the Second Team. Uxbridge’s deep playoff run and collection of All-Stars set a high bar for the future. With key contributors returning, the Spartans will look to build on this foundation and make another postseason push in 2026.
