Uxbridge ended a long skid and got back into the win column with a convincing 64-45 victory over Bay Path Wednesday night. The Spartans had lost four straight and eight of 10 entering the matchup, so this one was big for morale and momentum.

Uxbridge jumped on the Minutemen early and built a 35-20 halftime lead by executing in transition and on the offensive glass. Bay Path fought in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 29-25 after intermission, but Uxbridge’s cushion proved more than enough to close. Gianni Casasanta scored 11 points and hit a key three-pointer, while Krish Patel added 10 points and also buried a triple. Those contributions, combined with timely defense and rebounding, allowed the Spartans to survive Bay Path’s second-half push.

For Bay Path, Cole Adams and Luke Smolski each poured in 13 points, but the Minutemen couldn’t overcome the early hole. The win follows a 55-38 loss to Whitinsville Christian and gives Uxbridge a chance to build consistency; the Spartans travel to Monty Tech tonight at 7:00 p.m., a matchup against a 2-8 Bulldogs squad that provides a realistic chance to extend the positive run.

Uxbridge’s staff will emphasize ball security and finishing at the rim in practice this week; if the Spartans sustain that effort, they can climb out of the early-season rut.
