The Hopkinton Hillers boys’ lacrosse team faced a stiff test last Saturday against the Algonquin Titans, who entered the game at 10–1. In a highly competitive match, the Hillers kept pace early but ultimately fell 10–5. Algonquin’s offense was led by Declan Mulkerin, who tallied a hat trick, while Ben Yosca and Jared Walsh each added two goals. Hopkinton responded with crisp passes and disciplined rides, generating five goals of their own, but the Titans’ depth allowed them to maintain a multi-goal cushion. Despite solid defensive efforts, including key takeaway ground balls and timely slides, the Hillers couldn’t contain Algonquin’s multi-pronged attack. The Titans are an excellent program with a great team this season, which makes the Hillers’ competitive loss that much more understandable. With their postponed game against Medfield still to be rescheduled, Hopkinton turns its attention to the Bellingham Blackhawks (4–6), who suffered an 8–7 loss to Ashland last Thursday. A win against Bellingham today would move Hopkinton back above .500 and provide a crucial confidence boost heading into the season’s final stretch.
