Uxbridge baseball extended its midseason surge with a 4–0 shutout of Leicester on Wednesday, marking the Spartans’ third consecutive win. Against a competitive Leicester squad, Uxbridge pitchers combined for seven scoreless innings, stifling the Wolverines’ bats. On the mound, the starting pitcher mixed changeups and fastballs effectively, retiring the side in order in four of seven innings. The bullpen then closed the door, striking out three over the final two frames. Offensively, the Spartans manufactured four runs through small-ball execution and timely extra-base hits. While their offense wasn’t as explosive as they have been in the past, they capitalized on mistakes and produced. Uxbridge improves to 10–5 and remains No. 7 in the Division 4 Power Rankings. The Spartans have now won three straight games off the backs of a deep roster and some star performances. Their next test comes today on the road at Worcester South (9–3), a contest that offers a chance to climb into the top five before the season’s end. With four games remaining, each win will be critical for playoff seeding and offer a glimpse of their playoff ceiling.
