The Milford Scarlet Hawks boys’ volleyball team battled one of the state’s elite programs but ultimately fell 3–1 to Westfield High on the road. From the opening whistle, Milford matched Westfield’s physicality and intensity, engaging in long, competitive rallies that showcased the Hawks’ improved serve-receive and net defense. Milford demonstrated resilience by capturing a set against the Bombers, mixing well-placed serves with opportunistic attacks to keep Westfield off balance. Despite Westfield’s experience and depth carrying them to victory, the Scarlet Hawks continued to challenge every point and showed marked growth in transition play throughout the match. Now 11–8 on the season and ranked 22nd in Division 1, Milford returns home tonight at 5:15 PM to face Lincoln-Sudbury Regional. The Lancers have struggled this year, offering the Hawks a prime opportunity to turn competitive energy into a win. If Milford replicates the composure and execution they displayed against Westfield, particularly in serving pressure and defensive cohesion, they should be well-positioned to secure victory and build momentum heading into the postseason.
