Northbridge’s baseball squad experienced contrasting outcomes this week, falling 7–1 to Doherty before crushing the Uxbridge Spartans 9–0. In the loss to the Highlanders, Northbridge struggled at the plate and on the mound. Doherty ace Harper Cross fanned eight over seven scoreless innings, stifling the Rams’ lineup and holding them to a single run. Northbridge’s defense was unable to contain the Highlanders’ offense, which scored consistently throughout the contest. Just two days earlier, however, the Rams delivered a dominant performance against the Uxbridge Spartans, ranked No. 10 in Division 4, improving Northbridge’s own No. 8 standing. Starter J.P. Bolduc tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out multiple batters. Offensively, Northbridge exploded early, plating eight of their nine runs in the first two innings. Avery Sabourin led the charge with a double and three RBIs, while Bolduc contributed offensively with timely hits to keep the pressure on Uxbridge. Looking ahead, the Rams travel to face Nipmuc on Thursday at 6 PM. Nipmuc remains a formidable opponent, but Northbridge will aim to carry the confidence from its statement win into another late-season quality victory.
