The Uxbridge Spartans softball team continued its dominant season with a convincing 6–0 shutout of the Grafton Gators last Friday. Entering the contest with an unblemished 11–0 record, Uxbridge struck early, plating four runs in the first inning to seize control. Star Spartan Lola Grube delivered a solo home run and knocked in two runs, while Olivia Pirrotta collected three hits and drove in another run, showcasing the depth of the Spartans’ lineup. On the mound, senior ace Erin O’Day was untouchable, working a complete-game shutout. Over seven innings, O’Day surrendered just two hits and three walks while racking up 13 strikeouts. Her performance underscored why she is one of the top pitchers in the state: mixing off-speed pitches with pinpoint control to frustrate Grafton’s hitters all afternoon. With the win, Uxbridge improved to 12–0 and set its sights on a 13th straight victory this afternoon at home against the Northbridge Rams. Northbridge arrives off two tough losses to Tantasqua (13–0) and Notre Dame Academy (10–1) and will test Uxbridge’s pitching staff. But with O’Day on the bump and a lineup that has consistently generated runs by committee, the Spartans enter as heavy favorites to remain unbeaten deep into the spring season.
