The Northbridge boys soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Leicester on Tuesday night, but ran into a red-hot Millbury squad the following evening and dropped a 2-0 decision. Against Leicester, Northbridge struck first when Colby Trudeau finished in the first half to put the Rams ahead. Leicester answered in the second half when Nate Wilder evened the score, and the match finished as a draw. That result extended Northbridge’s run of results without a loss, but also underlined areas, particularly finishing and consistency late in games, that the team will want to tighten up.

Northbridge turned around quickly to face Millbury, a Woolies side that came into the match riding a streak of three straight shutout wins and sitting at 6-2-5. Millbury continued its strong form, and the visitors were unable to find the breakthrough. Jamison Gorrie converted a second-half penalty, and Andy Nguyen added an insurance goal as Millbury secured the 2-0 shutout. Northbridge’s offensive chances were limited by Millbury’s defense and by a night when the finishing touch didn’t fall for the Rams.

The sequence of results leaves Northbridge at 8-3-3 as the calendar moves toward the season’s final stretch. The Rams will get a big test tomorrow when they travel to face Sutton, an 11-1 side that presents one of the toughest matchups on the schedule. Northbridge’s coaching staff will emphasize recovery, sharper attacking patterns, and finishing in practice this week; if the Rams can regain consistent attacking form and convert chances, they’ll be right back in the mix as the schedule tightens.
