Northbridge Ram Honored by Boston Bruins

Northbridge’s Ryan Ruzzo earned a well-deserved honor earlier in March when he was recognized in the Boston Bruins and MIAA Sportsmanship Awards. The annual award celebrates local hockey players who represent their teams with class, leadership and competitiveness, and Ruzzo was among four players selected this year.

Ruzzo’s recognition reflects more than just his play on the ice. Throughout his Rams career, he has been viewed as a strong locker room presence and a player who competes the right way every night. That kind of reputation matters, especially for a Northbridge team that went through a difficult season and finished 4-15-1 while missing the playoffs. Even in a tough year, Ruzzo found ways to contribute and leave a positive impression on those around him.

One of his notable moments came in Northbridge’s 6-1 win over East Boston in early February, when he scored a goal and helped the Rams put together one of their brighter performances of the year. That kind of effort, combined with his attitude and consistency, made him a fitting choice for the sportsmanship award.

Northbridge will look to make improvements next year, but Ruzzo’s impact will be remembered well beyond the final record. He should leave the program with pride, and his sportsmanship should continue to follow him wherever he goes after graduation this fall.
