Northbridge Legion Baseball faced off against Cherry Valley last night in a huge game for the home team. Northbridge has struggled this season, losing four out of five games before their matchup with Cherry Post. In their last game against Leominster, Northbridge had a good performance. They ultimately lost the game, but Northbridge did an excellent job limiting a potent Leominster offense to just three runs in a 3-1 loss. Avery Sabourin had an excellent game, pitching seven innings, letting up two earned runs, two walks, and two Ks. Leominster capitalized on unforced errors and timely hits in the second inning to score three runs that were too much for Northbridge to recover from. Northbridge was desperate for a win last night and needed to bring their A game. Thankfully, they were able to do just that. They blew out Cherry Valley 10-0 last night, with Willem Haker driving in three runs, and Jake Costello doubling and driving in two himself. Pitcher Luke Charron did his part, giving up just three hits, striking out four, and letting up zero runs. This was the complete game Northbridge needed, and hopefully is a sign of what’s to come. Northbridge will look to build on this dominant victory against Shrewsbury next Tuesday. They will have their work cut out for them as Shrewsbury is the No. 2 seed in their division, but their recent momentum could prime them for an upset.
