Northbridge Girls Lax Takes Down Notre Dame

Northbridge’s girls lacrosse team continued its strong start yesterday afternoon, defeating Notre Dame of Worcester 15-9 in another high-scoring showing. The Rams have now won three straight to open the season and continue to show that they can generate offense in a variety of ways.

Grace Haden and Marissa Roadman paced Northbridge with four goals apiece, giving the Rams a pair of reliable finishers who kept the pressure on the Rebels throughout the game. Northbridge moved the ball well, created scoring chances in transition, and kept Notre Dame from ever fully settling into the contest. That offensive balance has been one of the Rams’ biggest strengths through their first three games.

Notre Dame did produce its own solid performance, with Kate Phillips scoring a hat trick despite the loss. But Northbridge had too many answers and continued to build on the momentum from last Monday’s 13-9 win over Worcester, a game in which Elly Schoser scored six goals, and Lily Proto and Grace Haden added two apiece. The Rams have shown plenty of depth and scoring ability early in the year, which makes them a tough matchup.

Northbridge now turns to St. Bernard’s this upcoming Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Bernardians beat AMSA 10-9 in a close one, so Northbridge will need to stay sharp if it wants to keep its unbeaten run going.
