Northbridge Baseball Looks to Rebound After Shutout Loss to Nipmuc

The Northbridge Rams faced a tough test against a surging Nipmuc squad Sunday and came up short in a 6–0 loss. Nipmuc’s pitching staff was lights-out, combining to allow just four hits while shutting out one of Division 4’s top offenses. Nipmuc relied on stars like Muccini and McCovern to set the Warriors up for a victory. Josh Giancola sparked the Warriors early with a two-run homer in the first inning, then slammed the door in the seventh with three strikeouts in a dominant relief performance. Northbridge, ranked No. 9 in the D4 power rankings entering the game, couldn’t get anything going offensively and closed the regular season on a two-game skid. Despite the recent struggles, the Rams have plenty to feel good about, having earned a top-10 ranking and a reputation as one of the most complete teams in their division. With playoff seeding looming, they’ll look to regroup quickly and lean on their experience and depth to make a deep run. The loss to Nipmuc may sting, but it doesn’t define what’s been a stellar regular season.
