The Nipmuc Warriors used a dominant second-half surge to defeat the Uxbridge Spartans, turning a 26-26 halftime tie into a comfortable victory by outscoring the visitors 39-25 after the break. The Warriors got balanced scoring and defensive stops that allowed them to separate late.
Multi-sport star Eben Consigli led Nipmuc with 16 points, while Sam Mosier added 15 and James Antonio chipped in 13. Those three players combined to keep pressure on Uxbridge’s defense and convert key possessions. Thatcher Sweeney carried the Spartans offensively, pouring in a game-high 25 points, but his efforts were not enough to overcome Nipmuc’s depth and second-half adjustments.
The win brings Nipmuc to 2-1 as the team heads into the holiday pause. They return to action Friday, January 2, against Bellingham, which is scheduled to participate in the Barry Hutchinson Memorial Holiday Tournament and sits at 1-1 through early play. That matchup should be a good barometer for both teams after the break and will test Nipmuc’s ability to sustain late-game consistency away from home.
