The Nipmuc Warriors girls soccer squad continued its title defense with emphatic playoff wins, cruising past Pentucket Regional 4-0 before obliterating Foxborough 6-1 to move comfortably through the Round of 16. Nipmuc, which entered the postseason at 17-0-1, showcased depth and finishing ability across both results.
Against Pentucket, Anya Montano, Abby Mullins, Ella Canasse, and Caelin Flynn all scored while Caylee Smith registered the shutout in goal. Nipmuc followed up with a 6-1 victory over Foxborough in which Abby Mullins starred, scoring the first two goals and finishing the match with four on the day to spark an offensive outburst.
The Warriors now prepare to meet Dover-Sherborn on Thursday at 6 PM at Northbridge Middle School. Dover-Sherborn arrives as the No. 10 seed after a pair of big scores, including a 7-5 win over Cardinal Spellman and a 6-0 opening-round triumph, and should present Nipmuc with perhaps its toughest test yet. Still, given Nipmuc’s form and firepower, the Warriors will enter the matchup as favorites and aim to keep their title defense intact.
