Nipmuc Football Earns Warrior Moniker

The Nipmuc Warriors football team turned in one of its best performances of the season against Burncoat last Saturday, delivering a dominant, multi-faceted outing from its core playmakers. The Warriors were coming off an equally dominant performance at Monty Tech the week prior, where Eben Consigli produced four touchdowns and Josh Giancola threw for 182 yards and three scores.

Against Burncoat, Nipmuc leaned on that same high-powered formula. Eben Consigli once again found the end zone, and quarterback Josh Giancola produced an all-around monster effort. Giancola rushed nine times for 121 yards and four rushing touchdowns, while also adding 137 yards passing and two more TD throws. In total, Giancola finished the game with 258 yards from scrimmage and six total touchdowns, a game manager’s performance that helped the Warriors build a huge first-half cushion.

Nipmuc exploded early, posting 22 points in the opening quarter and another 16 in the second to lead 38-16 at the break. With that margin in hand, the Warriors took a less aggressive approach in the second half, relying on clock management and sound situational football to close out a 50-16 victory. The win improved Nipmuc to 3-2 on the season and left them atop the CMAC C division, ahead of Burncoat, Assabet, and Monty Tech.

This upcoming Saturday’s matchup with Assabet looms as the next chance for Nipmuc to extend its momentum. Given how consistently the Warriors have run their offense and limited opponent responses, they’ll enter the weekend as clear favorites. Assabet will be a measuring stick, but Nipmuc’s recent production suggests they are prepared to keep rolling.
