Milford Softball Advances to Round of 16 with Win Over Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY, Mass. — Milford punched its ticket to the next round with a 7-3 victory over Tewksbury Memorial on Monday, using a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure the postseason win.

The Scarlet Hawks collected 13 hits and jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning and never surrendered the lead.

Milford added two more runs in the fifth before breaking the game open with a three-run sixth inning.

Ava Maloney led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Ava Baglione added two hits and crossed the plate three times, while Isabella Loscerbo delivered a key performance with two hits, including a double, and a team-high three RBIs. Lily Chiccarelli contributed two hits and an RBI, and Brooke Stokes added two hits of her own.

In the circle, Lauren Williams earned the win, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six over 4 2/3 innings. Ava Macchi was dominant in relief, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three to close out the victory.

Milford also put pressure on the bases, with Maloney swiping two bags and Chiccarelli and Lily Driscoll adding stolen bases as the Scarlet Hawks advanced with the 7-3 triumph.

The Scarlet Hawks will now face off against King Philip Regional High School in the Round of 16. It will be played on Wednesday, June 3rd at 3:45 PM.
