MILFORD — After nearly a week away from the diamond, Milford Post 59 returns to action tonight with revenge on its mind.
Milford will host Grafton Post 92 at 7 p.m. at Fino Field in a pivotal American Legion Baseball matchup.
The teams last met on June 18, when Grafton stunned Milford with a 12-11 walk-off victory in one of the most thrilling games of the summer. Post 59 battled back multiple times before Grafton pushed across the winning run in its final at-bat, handing Milford one of its most heartbreaking defeats of the season.
Milford responded to that loss by catching fire, rattling off nine consecutive victories to establish itself as one of the hottest teams in the league. The streak finally came to an end on July 2, when Hudson Post 100 escaped with a 13-12 walk-off victory, ending Milford’s impressive run heading into the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Tonight marks Milford’s first game since that July 2 contest and its first opportunity to begin another winning streak. It also gives Post 59 a chance to even the season series with Grafton after June’s dramatic finish.
Milford has featured one of the league’s most potent offenses throughout the summer, while Grafton has proven capable of winning close games. With the regular season entering its final stretch, tonight’s matchup carries added significance as both teams continue their push toward the postseason.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Fino Field. Fans can also follow the action live on MyFM 101.3 and the MyFM Local Sports Network.
