Milford Post 59 Completes Undefeated Weekend with 13-10 Win Over Cherry Valley

MILFORD — Milford Post 59 capped off a perfect weekend Saturday afternoon, defeating Cherry Valley Post 443 by a score of 13-10 to improve its record after also earning a victory over Hudson the previous night.

Milford’s offense came alive early and often, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits while overcoming multiple Cherry Valley rallies. The victory completed a 2-0 weekend for Post 59 as the team continues to build momentum in the early portion of the American Legion season.

Ben Maiorano led the offensive attack, going 3-for-6 with three runs scored. Brayden Lewis delivered one of the biggest performances of the day, finishing with two hits, three runs scored, and four RBIs. Josh Bouchard added two hits and an RBI, while Sam Schoenberg reached base four times, scoring three runs and driving in another.

Joey McGee contributed a hit, an RBI, and two walks, while Josh Giancola and Brady Wajda each crossed the plate during Milford’s 13-run effort.

Cherry Valley collected 11 hits and battled throughout the afternoon, trimming Milford’s lead on multiple occasions. Raymond Romero drove in three runs for Post 443, while Andrew Cloutier recorded three hits and two RBIs.

After starter Cole McGovern struck out six, Jordan Martorano provided a strong relief appearance, earning the win while pitching four innings and striking out three. Jaxen Lindsey recorded the final two outs to help secure the victory.

Milford’s offense produced runs in five different innings, including a five-run fifth inning that proved to be the difference as Post 59 completed its unbeaten weekend.
