During Tuesday night’s game against Leominster, the Milford Legion broadcast team welcomed longtime supporter Deb Guenther for a fifth-inning interview that highlighted a lifetime of passion for the team. Guenther’s relationship with Milford Legion Baseball stretches back to 1953, when her family first became involved with the program.
Deb shared stories of her parents’ deep ties to the organization—her father served as a manager and game announcer, while her mother was remembered fondly as the first woman president of the American Legion and, above all, its “number one cheerleader.”
Reflecting on her childhood spent chasing fly balls and watching from the stands, Deb spoke about how it feels to walk into the ballpark now and see the familiar faces of those who once cheered beside her mother. She emphasized the team’s role in shaping character, saying, “It all trickles down to the players,” and praised the current leadership for upholding that legacy. For Deb, Milford Legion is more than baseball. It’s about community, character, and creating a lasting impact. No one represents that spirit better than Deb Guenther herself.
