The Milford Scarlet-Hawks opened their season on a high note, blanking the Westfield Bombers 29-0 in a game that showcased both efficient offense and tenacious defense. Vincent Loscerbo, making his first varsity start under center, completed nine of 12 passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns. His composure in the pocket and ability to deliver timely throws helped Milford sustain drives and convert opportunities into points.
The offense ran with purpose, controlled tempo, and complemented the running game with timely passing. Milford’s defense was equally dominant. The front seven applied consistent pressure, generating sacks, hurried throws, and negative-yardage plays that disrupted Westfield’s rhythm. When the pass rush did not finish the play, the secondary closed passing windows and created a tough coverage look that limited big plays.
Special teams and situational execution helped the Scarlet-Hawks maintain control of field position throughout the contest. Milford entered last season as the No. 9 seed and reached the Round of 8, falling in a tight matchup with Reading Memorial. With a revamped roster and some scheme tweaks, Milford looks to build on that foundation this year.
They travel to face Leominster tomorrow at 7 PM. Leominster opened its season with a 38-0 win and will provide an early, meaningful test for the Scarlet-Hawks’ progress.
