Milford’s baseball team stayed unbeaten yesterday afternoon with a 7-5 win over Stoughton, giving the Scarlet Hawks another solid early-season result. Jaxen Lindsey handled the start on the mound and turned in a steady performance, going all five innings while allowing three earned runs and recording five putouts.
Milford also got timely production at the plate. Cody Geoffroy drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and scored a run himself, while Vince Loscerbo added two hits, including a double, and finished with two RBIs. That combination of pitching and opportunistic hitting helped Milford do enough to hold off Stoughton and improve to 2-0.
The Scarlet Hawks opened the year with an 8-5 win over Sharon, a game in which Joey McGee turned in a big all-around performance with two hits, a double, two walks, two stolen bases, and two RBIs. Ryan Flis also contributed two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a steal. That opener, along with yesterday’s win, has given Milford a balanced start on both sides of the ball.
Milford now has a little time before its next game against Attleboro on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Bombardiers are 0-2, so the Scarlet Hawks will have a chance to push for a 3-0 start if they keep their offense productive and their pitching steady.
