Medfield’s Naya Annigeri Receives Praise for Excellent Season

Medfield’s girls basketball team wrapped up a perfect winter with a championship season that put the Warriors among the best teams in the state. Medfield went 20-0 in the regular season and rolled through the playoffs to win the D2 title, finishing the year in dominant fashion.

The Warriors’ success came from a complete team effort, but junior Naya Annigeri played a major role in everything they accomplished. She averaged 18.9 points, 3.2 assists, and 5.4 steals during the regular season, giving Medfield production on both ends of the floor. Her shooting was especially impressive, as she knocked down 70 three pointers at a 43 percent clip, a mark that speaks to both her efficiency and volume.

Medfield also proved nearly impossible to slow down in the postseason, allowing just 34 points per game while scoring 68.6 on average. That gap showed how dominant the Warriors were from start to finish and why Annigeri’s all around contributions drew attention from the New England Hoops Journal in its end of season roundup of standout performers.

Annigeri still has one more season with Medfield before graduation, and the Warriors will once again be expected to contend for a title. If she continues at this level, Medfield should remain one of the favorites to chase a fourth straight championship.
