The Medfield Warriors girls’ hockey team made history last Sunday, winning their first-ever Division 2 state championship with a dominant 3-0 shutout over the Milton Wildcats at TD Garden.

Entering the tournament as the 13th seed with an 11-7-2 record, the Warriors were far from favorites in the 32-team bracket. However, they proved that seeding doesn’t define champions, delivering a remarkable playoff run against higher-ranked opponents.

Medfield opened the tournament with a commanding 4-0 victory over No. 20 Hopkinton before taking down a string of top teams. They upset No. 4 Algonquin, edged past No. 5 Burlington, and stunned No. 1 Westport in the semifinals to secure their spot in the title game.

Against No. 6 Milton, the Warriors rose to the occasion once again, shutting out the Wildcats to claim the program’s first state championship. Their ability to elevate their play when it mattered most was the defining story of their run.

With their historic title, Medfield’s girl’s hockey team has set a new standard for the program—one that will be remembered for years to come.
