The Medfield girls’ lacrosse team opened its Division 3 playoff run with a dominant 21-0 victory over Groton-Dunstable in the Round of 32. As the No. 1 seed (17-3), the Warriors extended their win streak to 13 games, scoring double-digit goals in each while holding opponents to single digits. From the draw, Medfield’s midfielders controlled possession, fueling a high-tempo attack that kept Groton-Dunstable’s defense on its heels. Medfield’s offense created scoring opportunities through quick ball movement, feeding cutters in tight spaces, and capitalizing on transition chances after forcing turnovers. Defensively, the Warriors clogged passing lanes and pressured clears, preventing Groton-Dunstable from generating sustained offense. Every segment of the field worked in harmony: defenders generated turnovers, midfielders initiated fast breaks, and attackers finished decisively. The Warriors are one of the most well-rounded teams in the state, and it is safe to say they brought this cohesion into the playoffs. Tomorrow at 4 PM, Medfield (18-3) will host No. 17 Nauset Regional, which advanced after a 17-15 win over Archbishop Williams. Although Nauset’s late-game execution kept them alive in a high-scoring affair, Medfield’s depth, speed, and home-field advantage make them heavy favorites as they pursue a state title.
