The Medfield Warriors girls’ lacrosse team is headed back to the Division 3 championship after a hard-fought 14-11 win over Wayland in Tuesday’s semifinal matchup. Wayland, a tough No. 4 seed with a battle-tested 9-9 record, made Medfield earn every goal, but the Warriors once again proved why they’re the top seed with a 17-3 overall mark. Freshman Sophia Zeppieri and veteran Izzy Kittredge each tallied hat tricks to push Medfield ahead early. Wayland fought back, cutting into the lead in the second half, but the Warriors held firm. Kendall Herrick’s fourth-quarter goal helped stop Wayland’s momentum and sealed the victory. Their fourth quarter performance showed championship grit, as they held off a desperate Wayland to clinch their championship spot. The Warriors showed poise and balance, with timely scoring and a defense that stepped up when needed. Medfield will now face No. 2-seeded Newburyport in the state championship game Thursday night at Babson College. After winning last year’s state title, Medfield is seeking back-to-back crowns and its fourth overall. With their depth and playoff experience, the Warriors are in a prime position to defend their title and cap off another memorable season.
