The Medfield Warriors rolled into the D5 playoffs and picked up a convincing 38-6 opening-round win over the Northeast Metro RVT Knights, a performance that looked very much like Medfield all season. Barry McCormack was sensational, finishing with 218 yards on nine carries and three rushing scores, including long TDs of 66 and 64 yards, and adding a 34-yard touchdown to cap his day of big plays.

McCormack’s explosive outing followed a season full of multiple 200-yard, 3+ TD performances and reinforced his standing as Medfield’s all-time rushing leader and offensive engine. Quarterback Owen Sokolowski also got into the scoring column with a rushing TD, and Matteo Benson added another score as the Warriors rolled.

Medfield’s balanced attack and sudden-burst explosiveness allowed the Warriors to control the game and advance comfortably. The win sets up a heavyweight Friday night clash at 6 PM with No. 5 North Reading, a Hornets team that opened its playoff run with a lopsided 42-7 victory over Marlborough and figures to be Medfield’s stiffest challenge to date. With McCormack’s form and Medfield’s playoff momentum, this matchup promises to be a marquee regional showdown.
