Joel Puri reached a major career milestone this season by earning his 100th win with the Bellingham/Blackstone Valley Tech wrestling team. The senior standout also finished an impressive 5th place at the 113lbs Division II championship, marking a season filled with determination and skill.

Puri’s tournament journey began with a commanding 14-0 victory by forfeit in the round of 16, setting a strong tone early on. In the next match, he bested the #4 ranked Ethan Kadish by a close decision of 9-6. Advancing past the quarterfinals was a significant achievement, although his run came to an end in the semi-finals with a 9-0 forfeit loss to top-ranked Johnny Moraes, who later claimed the state championship against Milford’s Brayden Boccia.

After his semi-final exit, Puri secured his 5th place ranking in a rematch against Kadish—a bout that ended in a medical forfeiture. As the first person in program history to notch 100 career wins, Puri has every reason to be proud of his accomplishments.

Looking ahead, the senior will compete in the 2025 MIAA All-State Tournament, taking place from Friday, February 28th at 4:30 PM to Saturday, March 1st at 6 PM at Methuen High School.
