Nipmuc’s girls lacrosse team delivered a statement performance Tuesday afternoon, overwhelming Wachusett 21-8 in a game where the Warriors’ offense was firing on all cylinders. After opening the season with a 14-10 loss to Nashoba, Nipmuc bounced back in a big way and showed how dangerous its attack can be when it is clicking.
Jayden Lilburn led the charge with an incredible eight goals, giving the Warriors a reliable finishing presence all over the field. Anastasia Quimby added four goals and three assists, while Riley Collura contributed a goal and four assists in a balanced offensive showing that kept Wachusett under pressure from start to finish. Nipmuc moved the ball well, created quality chances, and consistently turned possession into scoring opportunities.
The win evens Nipmuc’s record at 1-1 and gives the Warriors positive momentum after a tough but competitive opener. Against Nashoba, Collura led the way with a hat trick, but the Wolves’ pressure proved too much in a 14-10 loss. Nashoba was paced by Sydney Baleqicz, who scored six goals, while Carolin Pinto added four. That early challenge may have helped Nipmuc settle in for Tuesday’s breakout performance.
Nipmuc now prepares for Tantasqua next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors will be aiming for a 2-1 start against a Tantasqua team that also enters with a 2-1 record, setting up what should be a competitive early-season matchup.
