Hopkinton Hillers Extend Unbeaten Streak with Dominant Win

The Hopkinton Hillers continued their perfect season with a sweeping 5-0 victory over Whitman-Hanson Regional in Wednesday’s Division 2 boys tennis playoffs. Undefeated at 18-0 and crowned the No. 1 seed, Hopkinton relied on exceptional depth, winning nearly every set 6-0 and a handful by 6-1. This year’s squad earned seven all-star nominations, led by Max Sendele, Joe Krattenmaker, and Ilian Glace, each of whom also represented Massachusetts at the recent USTA State Individual tournaments. Though they didn’t capture titles there, their selection underscores the Hillers’ high level of play under pressure. Next up is a Round of 16 matchup on the road against No. 14 seed Longmeadow, which finished 14-3 and edged Canton 3-2 in its opener. The Lancers proved they can grind out tight contests, but Hopkinton enters as a prohibitive favorite: they’ve never dropped more than one match in any dual this spring. Still, success on unfamiliar courts will demand unwavering mental focus, precise shot selection, and the same depth that has carried the Hillers all season. If they maintain their tactical discipline, Hopkinton looks destined to extend its unbeaten run deep into the postseason.
