The Hopkinton Hillers boys tennis team enters the new season with high expectations after a remarkable 2025 campaign. Last spring, the Hillers went a perfect 18-0 in the regular season and reached the final four of the D2 playoffs, establishing themselves as one of the strongest programs in the division.
Repeating a perfect regular season will be difficult, but Hopkinton returns a strong core that gives the program a real chance to contend again. Joe Krattenmaker is one of the biggest names to watch after going 19-0 in singles last season and earning Tri Valley League All Star recognition for his play. His consistency gave Hopkinton a reliable point at the top of the lineup and set the tone for the rest of the team.
The Hillers also return important doubles pieces in Chavdar Kamenarov and Owen Gormley, both of whom helped anchor the No. 2 doubles squad and earned Tri Valley League All Star honors. Their success on the doubles court gave Hopkinton balance and depth throughout the lineup, which was a major reason for last year’s strong run.
Hopkinton will aim even higher this spring, with the talent and pedigree to chase a D2 championship. The Hillers may not repeat an undefeated regular season, but they have enough proven performers to remain one of the division’s most dangerous teams.
