The Hopkinton Hillers boys tennis team extended its perfect season to 21-0 after a comprehensive 5-0 win over Walpole on Wednesday in the Division 2 quarterfinals. This marked the third straight shutout for the Hillers in the postseason, further cementing their status as one of the state’s elite squads. Hopkinton’s depth was on full display. In singles, the No. 1 and No. 2 players dominated baseline rallies, forcing errors and winning key service games. Their precision groundstrokes and well-placed serves consistently put Walpole’s opponents on the defensive. In doubles, Hopkinton’s pairings combined sharp net play with crisp returns, closing out matches without dropping a game. Walpole earned its spot in the quarterfinals by winning two tight 3-2 playoff matches against Grafton and North Quincy, but Hopkinton’s top-to-bottom strength outmatched them. The Hillers feature seven all-stars on their roster, and their depth has allowed them to control the pace of every match this season. With Thursday’s win, Hopkinton advances to the semifinals, aiming to improve upon last year’s quarterfinal finish. The Hillers will carry their undefeated record and overwhelming confidence into their next matchup, knowing they have all the tools to secure another state championship.
