The Hopkinton Hillers boys lacrosse team concluded its season Monday afternoon with a 13-4 loss to No. 10 Westwood in the Division 2 opening round. Westwood applied pressure from the first whistle, winning draws, disrupting clears, and forcing turnovers that turned into transition goals. Hopkinton, the No. 23 seed, fought to contain Westwood’s aggressive style. On offense, the Hillers worked to create space through off-ball cuts and hard riding, but Westwood’s defenders remained positionally sound, limiting Hopkinton to contested looks. When Hopkinton did break free for chances, they relied on quick passes and steady shot selection to generate opportunities. Defensively, the Hillers hustled back on slides and communicated to force extra ground balls, but Westwood’s relentless pace resulted in too many second-chance opportunities. Hopkinton ends the year at 9-9, earning back-to-back playoff berths after last season’s 14-4 campaign and a Round of 16 appearance. Despite the early exit, the team’s underclassmen gained valuable postseason experience. Hopkinton’s focus now turns to improving possession under pressure, refining offensive set plays, and maintaining faster ball movement to push for a quarterfinal spot in 2026.
