Hopedale’s boys hockey team rebounded quickly from its season-opening loss to Auburn, delivering a balanced 6-2 victory over Grafton in the program’s second game. After falling 5-3 to Auburn, a game marred by a five-goal second-period flurry that included a hat trick from Lucas Tully, the Blue Raiders answered with a more complete effort.

Michael McGrath starred against Grafton, scoring twice and adding two assists, while Josh Balzarini chipped in two goals of his own. Ricky Nashawaty showcased his playmaking ability with four assists, a performance that highlighted Hopedale’s improved distribution and puck movement.

The Blue Raiders dominated the second period of the rematch, outscoring the Gators 4-1 and turning the tide with high-tempo forechecking and crisp entries. Hopedale improved its penalty kill and tightened defensive rotations, a contrast to the lapses that doomed them in the Auburn contest.

Hopedale now sits at 1-1 and faces Monty Tech on the road Saturday at 2 p.m. The Blue Raiders will take confidence from the offensive balance and renewed defensive intensity while aiming to continue the upward trend in the young season.
