The Hopedale Blue Raiders finished a dominant season in the best possible way, taking down Drury High School 48-35 last weekend to win the state championship. Hopedale entered the matchup after a 17-7 regular season and the No. 2 seed in the D5 bracket, while Drury came in with a 16-5 record and the No. 1 seed. The championship game lived up to the billing early, but Hopedale gradually separated and controlled the second half.

Phoebe Carroll delivered one final star performance for the Blue Raiders, finishing with a game-high 23 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Jenna Weeden and Layla Huntley each added 10 points in a balanced effort that gave Hopedale scoring from multiple spots on the floor. The Blue Raiders were steady on both ends, and their poise in the biggest moments helped them close the game and secure the title.

This was Hopedale’s first championship since 2022 and another strong chapter for a program that has stayed near the top in recent seasons. The Blue Raiders had come close in previous years, but this time they finished the job. Even with captains Anna Fafard and Phoebe Carroll graduating, Hopedale should remain a contender next season after another memorable run.
