Holliston’s girls’ volleyball squad returned to the win column Monday night with a meaningful 3-1 victory over Westwood after a difficult stretch. The Panthers began the season with an encouraging run, winning five of their first seven matches and rolling through a five-match streak that included Norwood, Ashland, Dedham, Medway, and Millis.
That momentum faded when Holliston dropped consecutive matches to Dennis-Yarmouth and then to the 13-2 Medfield Warriors, one of the top teams in the state. Monday’s win over Westwood steadied the ship. The Panthers have strong leadership from senior captains Laurianny Dos Santos and Grace Whitten, whose experience and presence at the net helped Holliston regain consistency in both blocking and serve-receive.
Holliston will host No. 3 TVL Hopkinton Hillers tomorrow at 5 PM, a test against a 10-3 Hopkinton squad on a three-match win streak. The Panthers will need their captains to continue setting the tone, and role players to sustain aggressive serving and disciplined defense. If Holliston rides its renewed confidence and executes in clutch moments, the matchup could be yet another step toward rebuilding the midseason momentum they enjoyed earlier.
