The Holliston Panthers boys tennis team maintained its postseason momentum last night, defeating the Falmouth Clippers, 4–1, in a Round of 32 matchup between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds. Holliston entered on a five-match winning streak that began at the end of the regular season, and their performance against Falmouth underscored why they have been so dominant. Though the close seedings suggested a tighter contest, the Panthers controlled the court except for one match. Their ability to stay a step ahead, using precise ball placement and smart shot selection, allowed them to win rallies with consistency. This result followed another lopsided victory (5–0) over the Nauset Warriors in their previous round. Of Holliston’s six outings, four have been shutouts, with the exceptions being a narrow 3–2 win over Westwood and their most recent match. Falmouth, which finished the regular season 13–3, earned the No. 9 seed in the Division 3 bracket on the strength of a dominant win over Cardinal Spellman and a 4–1 record in its final five matches. Facing Holliston proved to be one of their toughest challenges, as the Panthers’ depth proved decisive. Holliston (9-5) will advance to face top-seeded Bedford in the round of 8, where they will look to extend their streak against one of the state’s elite programs.
