The Hopkinton Hillers boys’ volleyball team continued its roller-coaster season with a five-set loss to the Millis Mohawks last night. The Hillers jumped out to a 2–0 lead, winning the first two sets behind aggressive serving and well-timed spikes. However, Millis stormed back, taking the next three sets and closing out the match with a 15–6 advantage in the decisive frame. Despite the loss, Hopkinton’s front-row blockers and outside hitters showed marked improvement in both blocking efficiency and kill percentage. Despite the loss, this was probably the best the Hillers have looked all season, and they were competitive all game against a good Millis squad. The Hillers, now 3–10 on the year, have remained competitive in recent matches and have demonstrated growth since overcoming early lineup challenges. Next up, Hopkinton will go on the road tomorrow at 4 PM against Westwood. Fans can expect another intense battle as the Hillers aim to translate moral victories into wins and finish the season strong in the Tri-Valley League. The Westwood Wolverines are also a team that has struggled this season, so look for the Hillers to capitalize and show their improvement by capturing a win at Westwood High.
