GRAFTON — Silver Lake Beach is becoming more accessible for residents and visitors with the addition of a new floating beach wheelchair, and the community is invited to celebrate its official arrival during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 4.
The new wheelchair was made possible through a grant awarded by SMILE Mass, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equipment and opportunities that make recreational activities more accessible for individuals with disabilities.
Designed specifically for use at the beach, the floating wheelchair allows users with mobility challenges to more easily enjoy both the sand and the water, helping ensure Silver Lake Beach is accessible to everyone in the community.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at Silver Lake Beach, where Grafton Recreation officials will formally accept the new equipment and recognize the partnership with SMILE Mass that made the project possible.
Community members are invited to attend the ceremony, celebrate the milestone and learn more about how the new floating beach wheelchair will expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
