Franklin Legion baseball stayed hot Thursday night with a dominant 2-0 shutout over No. 5-seeded Norwood, pushing its win streak to eight and solidifying a spot inside the top five of the division standings. After a shaky 2-3 start to the season, Franklin has surged behind a consistent stretch of elite pitching and timely hitting.

During this win streak, Franklin has averaged more than eight runs per game while not allowing more than four in a single outing. Thursday’s game held extra weight, with Franklin and Norwood tied in points entering the contest. That pressure didn’t faze Franklin ace Austin Campbell, who turned in a vintage performance. Campbell threw a complete game shutout and racked up 16 strikeouts in a truly dominant outing.

Owen Pennini provided the clutch insurance late with a key RBI to help seal the win. Franklin now finds itself in the No. 4 spot and will look to keep its momentum going with a ninth straight win tonight at 7 PM, hosting Hyde Park under the lights.
